Emotional Based School Avoidance – Focus Group

Sadly, Pinpoint hears from more and more parents and carers whose children and young people struggle to attend school and for some, simply are unable to attend. This can often be due to anxiety and emotional issues triggered within the school environment.

Cambridgeshire’s Education teams are working hard to help, and have developed resources and training to help schools understand that either, our child does not feel safe in the school environment, or that their home simply feels safer to them.

Katy Roe is an Educational Psychologist working with schools and wants to hear about our children and their needs to provide a Parent Guide to help us as parent carers too. We know this is an emotional subject for many but please know this will be a safe space to work together.

Pinpoint provide help and information to parents and carers of children and young people aged 0-25 with additional needs and disabilities in Cambridgeshire.

No formal diagnosis is required to access support from Pinpoint – a child may be on a waiting list, accessing services, had a referral turned down, or just be struggling.

We offer signposting and events for all things SEND and are the Parent Carer Forum for Cambridgeshire. Pinpoint also give parent carers opportunities to have a say and get involved in improving local services.

You will be sent an email containing the Zoom link to access the session 2 days before, 2 hours before and at the start of the session. Please do check your junk mail and spam folders as these emails sometimes end up there!

Be comfortable at Pinpoint sessions – You can keep your camera off and stay on mute and simply join us and other parent carers who “get it” from your sofa 😊
