Domestic Abuse Support

Survivors of domestic abuse across Cambridgeshire and Peterborough can now access a new countywide support service

The new Domestic Abuse Support Service (DASS) will work in a trauma informed way to understand the needs and wishes of the individual and develop appropriate support and safety plans. DASS will offer support with issues around home security to help survivors remain safely in their own homes where appropriate, accessing benefits and signposting or referral to specialist services such as legal representation, mental health and substance misuse. DASS will also be offering drop-in services in partnership with other specialist services across the county.

Cambridgeshire and Peterborough Domestic Abuse and Sexual Violence Partnership provide support for anyone experiencing domestic abuse including child to parent violence.

Parental Growth Education Support (PEGS) accept self referrals and will support any parent who is experiencing harm from their child or young person.

Adult safeguarding duties apply to an adult who:

• Has needs for care and support (whether or not the local authority is meeting any of those needs) and;
• Is experiencing, or at risk of, abuse or neglect; and
• As a result of those care and support needs is unable to protect themselves from either the risk of, or the experience of abuse or neglect.

If you have concerns about someone who does not meet these criteria then they will not be able to access Adult Safeguarding. However, you should consider what help is available to them and assist them in seeking that help.
