For parents of 14-25s

Pinpoint runs a group specifically for parent carers raising children aged 14-25 with additional needs and disabilities.

Our Preparing for Adulthood group is run by Jackie King.  We meet at Bar Hill Tesco's community room, Viking Way, Bar Hill, Cambridge CB23 8EL

Please join us on:

  • Monday June 19 10am to 12noon (see flyer at bottom of page)

Meet Samantha Gerson from My Favourite Hello: https://www.facebook.com/myfavouritehello/ a new online dating service designed for people 18+ with asperger’s, autism and learning disabilities.  Come along to find out about:

How members are matched securely and the different levels of support available:

  • Independent
  • Partially supported - where the member has the option to send a nominated supporter a copy of their email communications
  • Fully supported - where copies of all communications are automatically emailed to a nominated supporter,

plus many more questions answered.

  • Sam Pollock Young Person’s Engagement Officer from Core Assets will be available to advise and design One Page Profiles specifically for young people going through the Preparation for Adulthood phase.  A One Page Profile is a person centred tool that captures important information about a child/young person on a single piece of paper. The layout, design and contents can be adapted to suit each individual.

  • Monday September 25 10am to 12noon - Speaker tbc
  • Tuesday November 21 10am to 12noon - Speaker tbc

Our events this year have included:

  • Sexual Health information sessions run with DHIVERSE for parents of teenagers and young adults
  • An information event for parents of 18-25s with Carer’s Trust on carer’s assessments, what-if plans, benefits, young carers, Buckles Solicitors on legal rights (mental capacity, power of attorney), financial management (including wills).
  • A special production for parents of Tough Love, a play about unhealthy relationships, to enable parents to support their teenagers.  The play, followed by a discussion on the issues raised, has been shown  in mainstream secondary and special schools across Cambridgeshire.
