Independent Supporter service - it's free for SEND parents and carers!

Are you a Cambridgeshire parent or carer struggling to find your way through the EHCP process? Don’t panic – free, expert help and advice is just a click or phone call away.

Across the UK, SEN Statements and Learning Difficulty Assessments are being replaced by new Education, Health and Care (EHC) Plans. These are being phased in over the next few years.

To help families through the new assessment and planning process, Cambridgeshire parents and carers of a child or young person with additional needs can get help from an Independent Supporter.

Help for your family:

An Independent supporter will

  • Act as a named contact person throughout the EHC assessment and planning process for your child
  • Help you transfer a Statement of SEN or Learning Difficulty Assessment to an EHC
  • Help you prepare for meeting
  • Help you get the information you need for an EHC plan from various services.

 What help can you get?

  • Families and young people (0 to 25 years) can get confidential, impartial and independent information and support including:
  •  One to one support from a dedicated Independent Supporter at a place and time to suit you
