Shooting

Small-bore shooting, Huntingdon

The Soke Target Sports Club has an indoor shooting complex in a disused Hardened Aircraft Shelter on Alconbury Weald. There are two ranges, a 25m by 8 lane rimfire range for .22 rifles and a 20yd by 8 lane range for air rifles and pistols, designed with disabled shooters in mind.

The club offers fully wheelchair friendly facilities and offers prone, standing and sitting .22 shooting as well as air rifle and air pistol. Current Paralympic world champion Matt Skelhon, from Peterborough, won Olympic gold in 2008, just two years after taking up the sport.

While the National Smallbore Rifle Association says there is no lower age limit for either .22 rimfire shooting or air rifle and air pistol shooting,  it is not suitable for young children.  Shooters must be properly supervised and understand the safety instructions. All potential shooters will be assessed.
